Highway 1 in Mendocino County is threatened by a variety of unnecessary, out-of-scale projects proposed by the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).

This spectacular highway traverses some of the most beautiful scenery in the world, a sensitive environment home to myriad species, in a region whose economy is built on a foundation of environmental and historic preservation.

We’re working to help preserve this treasure. Our public outreach, legal expenses, and other costs are paid for through the donations of people who believe that the unique and spectacular beauty of Mendocino County’s coast and the Highway 1 that traverses it is worth preserving—and that it is under threat from inappropriate construction projects proposed by the California Department of Transportation.
